i have a 37" LCD HDTV flat screen bought on black friday 
in my opinion anything from Samsung, LG, or Philips are pretty damn awesome!
it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend...
Plasmas are pretty expensive
Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV

i have a 42" from vizio and the prices are good but more so, they are highly rated.
